Markey, Quinn Running For Colorado Treasurer

DENVER (AP) — Two Democrats will compete to try to replace Republican Walker Stapleton as Colorado state treasurer.

Former U.S. Rep. Betsy Markey and Broomfield mayor Pat Quinn both announced their candidacies on Monday.

Markey is getting the backing of former state treasurer Cary Kennedy and former Lt. Gov. Gail Schoettler.

Quinn is a certified public accountant and is serving in his last term as mayor under term limits.

Stapleton was elected in 2010.
