Thornton Police Search For Sex Assault Suspect

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Thornton are searching for a sexual assault suspect who allegedly assaulted a 9-year-old girl.

Police were called to North Suburban Medical Center at 9191 N. Grant Street in reference to a report of a sexual assault victim at that location.

The victim was transported to Children's Hospital as a result of her injuries.

Police said that their preliminary investigation reveals the 9-year-old female victim and Pierce knew each other. The girl had been sexually assaulted on Sunday about 10 p.m. in the 9100 block of N. Huron Street in Thornton.

On Wednesday, police obtained an arrest warrant for Steve Allen Pierce, 35, on the following charges: sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child- position of trust.

Pierce's last known address was 101 E. 88th Ave. in Thornton.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-8, 200 lbs. with brown hair, blue eyes and was last known to have a goatee and sometimes wears glasses.

Pierce is still at large and considered dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police.
