Police Release ID Of Woman Killed In Aurora Motorcycle Crash

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Aurora have released the identity of a woman killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a car over the weekend.

Tanya Marquez, 35, of Aurora was a passenger on the motorcycle and was killed. The driver of the motorcycle, whose name hasn't been released, remains in critical condition.

The crash happened at approximately 12:40 p.m. Saturday at East 6th Avenue and Del Mar Circle.

"The investigation indicates that the car was faced westbound on 6th Avenue waiting to turn left (south) on Del Mar Cir. The motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the right through lane of East 6th Avenue," Lt. Jeff Turner said in a statement. " We believe the traffic signals for both drivers was either yellow or had just changed to red when the car turned south and the motorcycle continued east. We believe that the motorcyclist saw the car and locked the front brake causing the motorcycle to flip and strike the car, rear end first."

The driver of the car didn't suffer any injuries and stayed at the scene. Neither alcohol nor excessive speed is suspected. The person's name hasn't been released.

Police are continuing the investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
