Loveland Man Gives Kidney To Mom For Mother's Day

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) - The most popular gift for mom this weekend might be flowers, but a young man from Loveland gave his mother the gift of a lifetime.

"She's just an amazing person," Landon Litt said. "I couldn't ask for a better upbringing."

"He's been a wonderful child to raise," Melanie Litt said. "We're so proud of him."

The mother and son share mutual admiration, and unconditional love.

"I've got to tell you, he never wavered once," Melanie said.

Not when he was ready for surgery -- not when he still had time to back out. While Melanie felt fear for her only son, Landon was elated. His mother had given him life, now he was prolonging hers.

On Dec. 18, 2012, 25-year-old Landon donated a kidney to his mother after a disease had destroyed hers.

"We were close to begin with it's just made us that much closer," Landon said.

"I just don't think there's any taking any of this for granted at all," Melanie said.

Mom and son will celebrate Mother's Day with the rest of the family. Just being together will make Melanie's day.

"I am just so grateful to be able to hug him and love him and just be his mom," Melanie said.
