Man Convicted In Halloween Party Shooting Death

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A man has been convicted in a deadly shooting at a Halloween party nearly seven years ago.

Corey Wagner was convicted Thursday in Adams County District Court of first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder and burglary in the shooting death of a man at a Halloween party in 2006 in Thornton.

Wagner, 34, was also convicted of second-degree assault and two counts of menacing.

Wagner will be sentenced May 15.

Wagner shot Anthony Montoya in the back at the party at 9200 Aspen St. in Thornton.

Wagner had returned to the party with a gun after he and some friends were forced to leave because of an altercation.

Wagner was initially convicted of the charges in 2008. The conviction was reversed on appeal because of an error in a jury instruction.
