Juvenile Charged In Weber Canyon Fire

MANCOS, Colo. (CBS4)- A juvenile charged in the Weber Canyon Fire has been sentenced for starting the fire burning near Mancos last summer.

The judge ruled the minor is now a juvenile delinquent for willfully and without authority lighting timber on fire upon public lands and destruction of government property in excess of $1,000.

The juvenile apologized in court.

The minor has been sentenced but the court is still in the process of determining an amount of restitution.

The Weber Fire burning six miles south of Mancos in Montezuma County burned 8,300 acres since it began in June 2012.
