Denver Police Officer Hurt In Crash, Driver Ran Away

DENVER (CBS4)- A police officer in Denver was hurt in a crash and the driver of the other vehicle ran away.

The crash happened just after midnight at the intersection of W. Florida Avenue and S. Federal Blvd.

The on-duty officer was struck while driving north on Federal. The other vehicle turned in front of the officer and the two cars collided.

The driver of the other vehicle ran away from the crash scene and left the passengers behind inside the vehicle.

Police caught up to the driver a short time later. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit and run. He remains in jail.

The female officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic investigators determined the officer was not at fault.
