Police Move In To Protect Nesting Owls In Waldo Canyon Burn Area

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Colorado Springs are working to protect a family of great horned owls.

The owls are nesting in a tree in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood. Curious onlookers have been getting pretty close to the nest.

Wildlife officials are concerned the owls will become protective and dive bomb the nest. Police have set up barricades to keep people from getting too close.

Great horned owls are not endangered but these particular owls have set up near the Waldo Canyon burn area and authorities want to encourage wildlife to live there.
