Pot Timeline Growing Short For Colorado Lawmakers

DENVER (AP) — Colorado lawmakers are running out of time to talk about pot.

A Senate committee is expected to vote Friday on sweeping bills to regulate and tax marijuana.

Lawmakers have until Wednesday to agree on regulations and tax rates for the newly legal drug. The Legislature is still bickering over whether to set a marijuana blood limit for drivers, and whether to require a limit on the size of marijuana growing operations and the number of pot shops.

If the Senate Finance Committee advances the regulations and taxes Friday, the full Senate must still debate the bills. Senators may work an unusual weekend to get the job done.
