DENVER (CBS4)– A popular Denver restaurant and bar on Broadway has shut its doors for the last time.

After fighting with the City of Denver for more than a year the owners of El Diablo announced they are shutting their doors for good on Thursday.

Last summer the city ordered the restaurant closed stating the owner did not do the required safety and fire updates to the building.

After an appeal the planning board allowed them to reopen while the improvements were made.

A post on El Diablo’s Facebook page stated that it would be shutting down after Thursday because the restaurant can no longer fight what it believes is the city’s effort to shut down its building.

El Diablo is located at 101 Broadway in the heart of the quickly growing Broadway entertainment district.
