WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – Weld County is warning parents about whooping cough cases.

The county health department says 15 schools have reported cases of pertussis since December.

Whooping cough is a persistent cough that’s highly contagious.

While schools are hit particularly hard, the cases range from an infant to a 71-year-old adult.

The public health department is urging parents to make sure boosters are current and to get tested for lingering coughs.
