A Day For Wednesday's Child Raises $111K+ For Adoption Exchange

DENVER (CBS4)- A Day for Wednesday's Child raised more than $111,000 for the Adoption Exchange on Wednesday. CBS4 wants to extend a thank you to those who participated.

The day was dedicated to raising awareness about the need for forever families for children in the Denver metro area.

In each newscast broadcast on CBS4 beginning at 5 a.m. and running through the 10 p.m. newscast on Wednesday there were feature stories about "Wednesday's Children" who are waiting for adoption, family success stories, and former Wednesday's children who have been adopted. Viewers were encouraged to phone in a contribution to support program services provided by The Adoption Exchange.

Each year more than 65% of the children that are featured on Wednesday's child segment find permanent, stable, loving homes.

The total number of donations is expected to increase as final tallies from internet and phone donations are added to the total.
