Centennial Man Arrested In Mother's Murder

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)- A man suspected in the murder of his mother has been arrested.

Douglas County sheriff's deputies arrested David Kuroki Tuesday in a small park located in the 11000 block of E. Lansing Court.

Investigators believe Kuroki, 53, attacked and killed his mother, Mae Kuroki.

"This was not a random act. So there should be no other concerns about public safety issues out there at all," said Arapahoe County Undersheriff Dave Welcher.

Mae Kuroki, 81, was discovered Tuesday morning in her apartment near East Dry Creek Road and Yosemite Street.

Deputies said David Kuroki was suffering from self-inflicted wounds when they took him into custody. He has not been booked into jail because he continues to receive treatment at a hospital.

Mae's neighbors said they are shocked and saddened by what has happened.

"I kind of gathered that her son was very protective of her in many ways," said neighbor Henrietta Robinson.

Robinson said David visited his mother frequently, "And he would come over once a week or so and he would take her to the grocery store."

Neighbors said Mae was a friend of everyone in the area. They said they don't know what would have driven her son to kill her.
