Man Killed In Apparent Shooting In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - A man died Wednesday night after apparently being shot in Denver.

Sonny Jackson with Denver police said officers responded to the 1600 block of South Bryant Street on a report of a man down.

"When officers arrived they found a male lying in the street who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound," Jackson said in a statement. "The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead."

The victim has been identified as Michael Anthony Chavez. His age wasn't released. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Jackson said information on a suspect is not being released at this time.
