Denver Police Search For Woman Involved In Fatal Hit & Run

DENVER (CBS4) - Police are searching for a woman after an elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run in Denver late Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at Kalamath and 13th Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Sonny Jackson with Denver police said the hit-and-run stemmed from some sort of confrontation in the Burger King parking lot at Colfax and Kalamath. According to Jackson, the woman backed into vehicle in the parking lot and a security guard tried to stop her. As she fled she almost hit the guard.

Jackson said the woman then sped out of the lot and ran a red light at 13th and Kalamath, hitting elderly man in his car in the process. The elderly man was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later.

The woman abandoned her car after the accident and fled on foot. Police were interviewing other people in the woman's vehicle, which was a rental out of Colorado Springs. Police haven't released the woman's identity, although they believe they know who she is.

Nobody else was in the elderly man's car.
