DPD Sidelines Officer Accused Of Patrol Car Sex

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver Police Department has removed an officer from patrol duty following allegations that he was having sex in his police cruiser while on duty.

"An internal affairs investigation of a serious nature is ongoing and he has been placed on an administrative assignment pending the outcome of that investigation," said Denver Police Lt. Matt Murray.

Murray declined to discuss the specific accusations that led to the officer's change in assignment.

Multiple police sources have told CBS4 the 36-year-old patrolman is assigned to the police department's District 5 substation. They said he was somehow caught engaging in sex in his DPD vehicle while on his shift.

The officer has been with the DPD since 2004. CBS4 was not able to reach the officer by phone or email to discuss the ongoing investigation.

If the officer is found to have had sex in a patrol car while on duty, he could potentially be terminated from his job.
