Major Oil Spill Discovered Near Parachute
PARACHUTE, Colo. (CBS4) - Crews are trying to contain a major oil spill north of the town of Parachute.
Federal authorities are working to contain liquid hydrocarbons bubbling up from the ground and they want to protect nearby Parachute Creek.
Contractors preparing a site for construction discovered the hydrocarbons coming up from the ground last week.
So far no oil has gotten into the creek.
Investigators are still trying to determine the source of the spill.
