Phish's Summer Tour Will Wrap Up With 3 Nights In Colorado

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) - The popular jam band Phish announced Wednesday that they will be returning for a third year to Dick's Sporting Goods Park to play three shows on Labor Day weekend.

The Vermont-based band said during their shows last year that they have come to truly love the venue in Commerce City, and even weaved in the name of the stadium into the vocal jam in one of their signature songs You Enjoy Myself.

Phish has also used the Friday night shows in their Dick's runs to play a prank of sorts with their setlist choices. In 2011 the first letter of all of the songs was S. Last year the first letters were different, but they spelled out a messages to their fans that can't be repeated here.

Dick's Sporting Goods Park is a performance space that few other bands have played at. It's a soccer stadium by day, but Dick's lights up with a wild light show and loud sound system for Phish each summer. And another popular touring band must have gotten the news; Dave Matthews Band will be playing two shows at Dick's on Aug. 23 and 24.

This year's summer tour includes no other shows in Colorado, or even in any states that border Colorado. The shows will happen on Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1.

The band has a strong following in Colorado and has played in the state 16 times since they reunited after a long absence in 2009.

That summer they performed a four night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The following summer Phish performed in Telluride for two nights.

Then in the fall of 2011 they played a hurriedly-organized benefit show with several other bands at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield after the devastating Fourmile Fire. That was followed by Phish's three planned nights at the 1st Bank Center.

Ticket information, as well as the band's complete summer tour schedule, can currently be found at Phish's website.
