Gun Rights Advocates Send Message To Lawmakers At State Capitol
DENVER (CBS4) - Hundreds of gun rights supporters in Colorado sent a strong message to lawmakers on Saturday.
The crowd gathered on the west steps of the Capitol for what they called "A Day Of Resistance" rally. They say current legislation moving through the state House takes away their Second Amendment rights.
The demonstrators also believe people are safer when allowed to carry a weapon for self defense.
"I think our forefathers had the insight to make the Second Amendment for a very important reason," gun store owner Rod Brandenburg said. "Folks, if you lose your Second Amendment rights, you can kiss the rest of the bye too."
A package of control measures, including limiting the capacity of magazines and banning concealed weapons on college campuses, passed the House and is now on its way to the Senate.
