Firefighters Union Bill Passes Out Of Senate Committee

DENVER (CBS4) - A bill guaranteeing firefighters the right to form a union passed out of a Senate committee on Wednesday.

The three Democrats voted for it and the two Republicans voted against it.

Labor groups say firefighters deserve bargaining rights, but some local governments have passed union bans.

The bill now moves on to the full Senate.

Former Gov. Bill Ritter vetoed a similar bill four years ago. It's not clear if Gov. John Hickenlooper would sign it.
