Woman's Body Found In Cherry Creek, Police Don't Rule Out Foul Play

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman's body was found floating face down in Cherry Creek Sunday afternoon.

John White with Denver police said officers had to close Cherry Creek South Drive near Monaco Parkway for the investigation.

According to White, at approximately 2:30 p.m. a man who said he was walking in the area called police and indicated seeing a body in Cherry Creek.

"Members of the Denver police and fire departments responded to the area of Florida Avenue and Oneida Street and located what appeared to be the body of a deceased female," White said in a statement.

Denver police have not said there are any reported missing persons that could be connected to the death.

White told CBS4 the location of the incident is alarming.

"This particular area, it's unusual for this to happen, so it's cause for concern for us. We want to make sure we piece together what took place," White said.

Investigators are trying to determine if the death is suspicious in nature.
