Gov. Hickenlooper Settles Bet, Sends Lambchops To Maryland

DENVER (CBS4)- Gov. John Hickenlooper made good on the wager over last weekend's football game by grilling lamb chops before mailing a package of them to Maryland's governor.

Hickenlooper grilled up a half dozen lamb chops on the steps of the state Capitol Thursday to settle a bet made over the Baltimore Ravens v. Denver Broncos football at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Jan. 12.

Unfortunately, the Ravens claimed victory in double overtime.

"This was one of the toughest defeats I've ever watched, but what a game! And you do learn more from defeat than you do victory," Hickenlooper said. "Even if you have the best quarterback and the best coach in football, and we do, nobody can be perfect every time out. Our disappointment aside, we are proud of the Denver Broncos and happy to settle our bet with Gov. O'Malley with some of the best lamb chops on earth."

That means Gov. Hickenlooper shipped off 12 lamb chops from the Triple M Bar Ranch in Manzanola to Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

Triple M Bar Ranch lamb meat is all natural, which means no growth hormones or antibiotics are used. The meat also has a unique, mild flavor due to the feed used to grow lambs.

Had the Broncos won the game, O'Malley would have sent 12 Chesapeake Bay crab cakes to Colorado.
