Family Dollar Roof Collapses After Water Line Bursts
THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - The roof in front of a Family Dollar store in Thornton collapsed Tuesday afternoon after a water line burst.
All of the damage happened at the entryway to the store. The ceiling tiles and the insulation all caved in right in front of the main door.
The Thornton Fire Department said a water pipe froze and then burst and the roof collapsed underneath the weight of all the water.
The ceiling inside the store wasn't damaged and nobody was injured.
The city's engineers said the building is still structurally sound but the ceiling will need to be repaired along with some electrical work.
It's not clear when the store will reopen.
