FBI Releases List Of Suspected Robberies By 'Clearinghouse Bandit'

DENVER (CBS4) – The FBI is hoping the release of a list of 13 bank robberies on the Front Range last year by a man dubbed the "Clearinghouse Bandit" combined with clear surveillance images will lead to an arrest.

The FBI says the robberies took place in Denver, Aurora and Colorado Springs. They first one is believed to have happened in August and the most recent one took place on Dec. 10.

Authorities gave the suspect that nickname because he often carried what appeared to be a magazine during the crimes with robbery notes hidden inside. The FBI explained further: "Publishers Clearing House is an American multi-channel direct-marketing company that offers discounted magazine subscriptions."

In most of the crimes the man "entered the bank, presented a demand note, and fled." Denver police said last month that he told bank employees he had a weapon, and that in some of the robberies he may have been working with an accomplice.
