Missing Arvada Man's Brother Says Foul Play Is A Possibility

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - There is still no sign of a man who went missing after an office Christmas party in Westminster early last Sunday morning.

John Lucas Edwards, 36, known as Luke, vanished after attending the party at the Westin Hotel near U.S. 36 and Church Ranch Boulevard.

Luke Edwards' brother, Andrew Edwards, says police have cleared 98 percent of the five ponds surrounding the Westin. A ground search with volunteers began Sunday morning.

Search teams cracked the ice on the ponds this week and used sonar to look down below. They also sent in a diver, but now one week later, the mystery of what happened to Luke Edwards of Arvada continues and police have no answers for his family.

"They've not only cleared this pond, but other ponds, and to be honest that's good news for me," Andrew Edwards said. "I didn't want to find him in the bottom of a pond."

Andrew Edwards says he spent the day with 80 others looking for clues in fields near the Westin. He said his brother would never just walk away from his family.

"Absolutely not, he has two children that he's already Christmas shopped for," he said. "He loved his job, he had a good girlfriend that, you know, he talked to me about marrying."

Westminster police said they've interviewed close to 60 people. Most attended the party along with employees working at the Westin Promenade. They're also examining some 15 hours worth of surveillance video.

"We don't want to suspect foul play but it is in the back of our mind," Andrew Edwards said. "He's the type of guy that would protect anybody. If he saw somebody get into an altercation he would try to break up that altercation. Maybe that escalated into something very serious."

Andrew Edwards also said the police have his brother's truck. It was parked in a lot nearby and his coat was inside the truck.
