SUV Strikes Woman In Southeast Denver, Drives Away

DENVER (CBS4) - Police in Denver are searching for the driver who is responsible for striking and killing a woman who was crossing Leetsdale Drive Thursday night.

The woman was crossing Leetsdale from the south side of the street to the north side at about 6:07 p.m. when she was struck, and the driver drove off, Denver Police spokesman Lt. Robert Rock said. The crime happened near the Villas at Parker and close to the intersection with Quebec.

The woman was apparently crossing the street from a bus stop.

The collision knocked some parts of the vehicle off. Police said they believe it sustained damage to the front corner of the driver's side.

Police said they vehicle was a grey or silver buick SUV, possibly an Enclave.

Rock said they are checking into whether the pedestrian shouldn't have been crossing at that part of the road.

"Typically folks are not to cross the street in the mid-block, but that's something we'll be investigating," he said.

Rock said they are interviewing several witnesses.
