Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive Kicks Off

DENVER (CBS4)- This holiday season CBS4 and King Soopers are once again teaming up to help children in need.

King Soopers will begin collecting new toys and cash donations for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver at all Denver metro area King Soopers locations.

The goal is to make sure every child is able to open a gift this holiday season.

The Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive is Dec. 1 through Dec. 24.

Toys in demand this season are games, art kits, electronics, video games and sporting equipment.

Although the drive continues through Christmas Even, this year's special Care 4 Colorado Collection Event is Dec. 13 at the King Soopers on S. Colorado Blvd. from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"Well, for our parents that were in trouble before the recession hit it has only gotten worse and as you know many of the families that we serve are middle income-low income families so for those that have employment it's been tough and for those seeking employment it's been even tougher," said Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver spokesman John Arigoni.

New, unwrapped toys can also be dropped off at the CBS4 Studios throughout the entire month of December.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has been helping young people make the most of their lives since 1961, when the first club opened its doors to boys who needed a positive place to spend free time.

Today, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver serves 12,000 kids at 16 neighborhood program sites and one residential summer camp.
