Former Highlands Ranch Teacher Accused Of Sexual Assault

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (CBS4)- A former Highlands Ranch teacher and basketball coach has been arrested for sexual assault on a former female student.

Richard Johnson has been charged with 30 felony charges including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child, sexual exploitation of a child and enticement of a child.

Johnson, 31, no longer works for the Douglas County School District. He left the school district in March and is not currently employed as a teacher.

He turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday.

Johnson is a former 8th grade teacher at Rocky Heights Middle School and also coached basketball at Rock Canyon High School, both located in Highlands Ranch.

Johnson remains free on $50,000 bond.
