2 Colorado Wildfires Holding Steady

WETMORE, Colo. (AP) - Wildfire managers say only residents and firefighters are being allowed into the small southern Colorado town of Wetmore.

Officials said Sunday the 2,000-acre Wetmore Fire is burning in grass and timber about 25 miles west of Pueblo. The fire that was reported on Tuesday has destroyed 14 houses and at one point 380 people were forced from their homes. Recent snowfall helped crews get the upper hand on the fire, which was 95 percent contained.

Meanwhile, the Fern Lake Fire reported in Rocky Mountain National Park on Oct. 9 is holding steady at 1,000 acres and is 17 percent contained.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
