Denver Police Unveil Low-Rider Cruiser

DENVER (CBS4) - A new Denver police low-rider car was unveiled at Elitch Gardens on Saturday as part of the city's recruitment program.

The custom vehicle will be driven into community events where people can learn more about getting involved with law enforcement.

The idea for the car was developed by Montbello High School's senior class and Saturday was the first time it was introduced to the public.

"We'll take this to car shows and to special events, and with this a lot of the music playing draws kids in and we'll have a table set up for the cadet program and try to get kids to get involved in law enforcement as a career," Deputy Chief Bill Nagle with Denver said.

Parts for the car were donated by a number of different organizations.

As a prize for their winning design, Montbello seniors won a free day pass to Elitch Gardens.
