Young Fero Was 1 Of 5 Who Were Murdered In Mass Killing On Wednesday

DENVER (CBS4) – Friends and family of a Denver bar owner who was murdered along with four others on Wednesday say they are shocked and saddened by her death.

Several people gathered outside Fero’s Bar and Grill on Colorado Boulevard near Alameda on Wednesday night to hold a small candlelight vigil. On Thursday a community memorial sprung up outside the bar to remember Young Fero and the others who died.

Fero, 63, of Aurora, was in at about 2 a.m. when the crime happened. Police on Thursday said three people are responsible for the killings and that their motive was robbery.

Fero’s brother Tae Moon Park sometimes helped his sister with the business and says she was much loved by her customers.

“My sister, everyday (she was) happy, you know?” Park said. “When any customer comes, they’re always happy to talk to her.”

Park’s daughter also told CBS4 she “can’t believe” someone would shoot her aunt.

Matthew Dunafon is a manager at the strip club Shotgun Willie’s across the street and said he first met Fero about 20 years ago. He said Fero was also a popular business owner in the area.

“Hopefully she’s in heaven because what a terrible way for her to go,” Dunafon said. “It makes me furious. To know that she probably suffered made me mad.”

Dunafon praised Fero for what he said was a great attitude and for “always smiling.”

“I just can’t see anybody being mad at her, or mad enough to do such a disgusting thing to those people up there,” he said.
