It's Fall: Don't Forget Your Lawn

Written by Brooke Wagner
Nothing is better than fall in Colorado. Still, that first hard freeze can sneak up on us. Waiting too long to blow out the sprinkler system can send homeowners into panic mode fast.

For the cost of a sprinkler blow-out (generally $50 to $100) you can save thousands on line repairs. This is the perfect time to get that on the calendar.

If you make your appointment now you might be able to save money in other ways too. If you plan to sign a contract with a landscaping company, now might be the best time. Most companies have slower business now and rates may be lower since most people associate lawn work with spring.

It's also a good time to throw in re-seeding or sod, as those are typically less expensive in the fall. And, of course, you can get great deals at nurseries right now too.

If you're a do-it-yourselfer you'll find information in the links below on what type of air compressor to rent if you plan to blow out your sprinklers yourself. If you can find a great deal, and you're inexperienced with the work, it might be best just to pay someone to do it for you given rental fees can run as high as the actual service.

Below are a couple of articles where you can find even more ideas for deals and plan ahead for a lush lawn next spring.
