Colorado Giving $1.3M For Wildfire Recovery

DENVER (AP) — Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is providing $1.3 million for recovery in the Lower North Fork Fire burn area.

Hickenlooper says the funding announced Friday can be used to pay for such things as removing burned trees in the burn area and helping residents.

The Colorado State Forest Service and the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management plan to meet with residents to discuss the best projects.

The Lower North Fork Fire southwest of Denver destroyed or damaged 23 homes and killed three people in March.

The fire grew out of a state prescribed burn, which prompted demands that the state take responsibility for the damage.
