New App Offers Great Deals To Diners In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - Diners in Denver have a new option to save money on their meals.

ScoutMob.com is a free smartphone app. To get the discount you don't have to pay for anything -- no need to download a coupon -- all you do is show your server your app and your meal will be discounted 50 percent.

4 On Your Side Money Saver Suzanne McCarroll found Quincy Landingham dining at Zi South downtown.

"You get awesome deals at great restaurants" he said between bites of gourmet tacos.

One of ScoutMob.com's founders, Michael Tavani, says the premise of the site is to appeal to diners who want good food, good discounts on the spur of the moment.

"We believe most decisions about restaurant meals are made impulsively. We know most people always have their smartphones with them at all times, so we thought, 'Let's pair those two things up,' " Tavanis said.

Every week a new restaurant is profiled on the site, so there's no rush to go use the discount immediately. The restaurants range in price and fare. DiFranco's Italian Deli is one of the latest restaurants to offer a discount on the site.

Zi South's owner, Deb Sturm, says ScoutMob brought them in an enthusiastic crowd to her six-month old restaurant.

Landingham, who likes to dine out, says he plans to use the app almost daily.
