Firefighter Calendar Organizers Enters Guilty Plea

DENVER (CBS4) - A woman has pleaded guilty to felony theft for stealing money from a charity raising money for The Children's Hospital burn unit.

Kirsten Hamling organized and sold the firefighter calendar that raised that money through her group Fired Up For Kids and was charged with stealing $200,000.

She pleaded guilty to a single count of theft Thursday morning, and other charges were dropped.

She faces two years in jail, probation and restitution when she's sentenced in November.

The investigation of Fired Up For Kids found, among other expenses, payments for Hamling's school tuition for a child, a fitness club, a Disneyland trip, car repairs, and Nordstrom.

A new firefighter's calendar project is now taking place under a new organization.
