Cabinet Members In Colorado To Promote Healthy Food

DENVER (CBS4/AP) - Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Education Secretary Arne Duncan were in Colorado Monday to promote healthy food.

The two Obama Cabinet members met with students, parents and staff at Lowry Elementary's lunchroom to discuss healthy eating. They then joined students outside for sports and fitness activities.

"This is a great example; running a garden, having it served in the lunchroom, and then having the kids come out and engage in exercise," Sebelius said. "It not only helps the fight against childhood obesity, but really helps the student perform at a much higher rate."

Duncan says the message from the White House is that in order to have a strong economy, you have to have good schools with healthy children.

They were joined by Gov. John Hickenlooper and Colorado's two U.S. senators, Michael Bennet and Mark Udall, for the event.
