Colorado Nonprofits To See Fee Reductions Oct. 1

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler is slashing various fees for nonprofit entities starting Oct. 1, with some fees falling to $1 or less.

For instance, bingo and raffle licenses will drop from $100 to $1. Gessler said Tuesday he plans to review the fees quarterly.

Gessler says the reductions will keep more money in communities.

The secretary of state's office funds its operations with filing fees from businesses and non-profit entities. His office estimates the fee reductions will reduce revenue by $1.1 million after one year. Gessler says his office can absorb the reductions through efficiencies and consolidation.
