Colorado Car Dealers Optimistic As Sales Surge

DENVER (AP) — Colorado car dealers say vehicle sales are up more than a third over July last year.

Colorado car dealer association president Tim Jackson says figures show consumers are regaining confidence in the economy and they are replacing older model vehicles with more fuel efficient brands.

Jackson said credit is more readily available and more affordable, making it easier to buy a new car or truck.

In Colorado, nearly 86,000 new vehicles were registered from January through July, compared with about 71,000 for the same period in 2011. That's up more than 20 percent.
