Former Preschool Teacher Facing Child Porn Charges To Be Released On Bond

DENVER (CBS4)- A judge has released conditions that will allow a former preschool teacher to be free on bond while he awaits trial on child pornography charges.

Prosecutors claim David Moe had hundreds of pornographic images in his possession.

Moe, 45, was a teacher at Paddington Station Preschool in Denver for 18 years. Police seized CDs, DVDs, and hard drives from lock boxes inside his home and found the pornography.

Some of the conditions of Moe's release are: he must stay inside his parents' home unless he is on his way to court, he cannot have any contact with children and cannot have access to internet service.

Moe's parents must show the judge their service request for cancelled internet service.

Their home is located in a Denver neighborhood off 17th Parkway.

Moe will also be monitored by a GPS tracking device.

Moe must also allow court representatives to search all of his computers for any kind of pornography.

Former Denver District Attorney Karen Steinhauser said the conditions are very common in child pornography cases.

"I think those conditions can and do work the vast majority of the time but I don't think that's any comfort," said Steinhauser.

Many parents of children who attend or attended Paddington Station Preschool are upset about the judge's decision.

Moe has since resigned his position at the school as well as the director of the school. He remains in federal custody.

Moe won't be released until after prosecutors have an opportunity to argue the conditions set by the judge. They will also have the opportunity to add more to the list of 13 conditions already ordered.
