Coloradans Line Up For Tickets To See President Obama

DENVER (CBS4) - President Obama makes his next stop in Colorado on Wednesday. He'll be speaking at the Auraria Event Center in Denver.

On Thursday the president will visit Pueblo, Grand Junction and Colorado Springs.

On Monday morning CBS4 found people lining up on the Auraria campus to get tickets to the event. Some brought their children, saying giving children a chance to see the president will help them form their own political views.

"Because it's an election year, the awareness is heightened, and although they hear a bit about it here and there, I want them to be able to be plugged in themselves and develop their own viewpoints," a father told CBS4.

The latest fundraising numbers are in for the presidential candidates. Obama and the Democratic National Committee raised $75 million in July. Mitt Romney and the Republication National Committee netted more than $101 million.

Both campaigns say the bulk of the money raised came from donations of less than $250.
