Former Science Teacher Sentenced For Drug Possession

DENVER (CBS4)- A former science teacher who pleaded guilty to possession of drugs was sentenced to probation and jail time on Thursday.

Jordan Marcowitz was sentenced to two years probation along with five days in jail. He was ordered to return to court on August 16 to begin serving his jail time.

Marcowitz, 32, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in June. He pleaded guilty to having "Molly" a substance similar to Ecstasy.

He was arrested in December 2011 following a Denver Police Department narcotics operation. There were no allegations that he sold drugs to students.

Marcowitz taught science at Shadow Ridge Middle School.
