Longmont Man Convicted In Connection To UNC Student Who Jumped To Death

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- The man who provided alcohol to a University of Northern Colorado freshman who jumped to his death was convicted by a jury.

Kyle Edward Riley was convicted by a Weld County jury on Thursday of providing alcohol to a minor.

Riley purchased alcohol for an initiation party that was hosted by the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at UNC on April 15, 2011.

Ross Higuchi of Aurora had been initiated into the fraternity earlier in the day. Riley provided Higuchi with several shots of alcohol and a bottle of wine.

Higuchi later jumped from the balcony of the home during a dispute with fraternity members. Higuchi was in a coma for several days before he died from his injuries.

Riley is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21.
