Human Remains Found In Lakewood Identified

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lakewood have identified the human remains discovered by a hiker in the western section of the city in September 2011.

The skeletal remains were found in a remote area not frequented by people. As detectives continued their investigation, additional skeletal remains were located.

The remains were submitted for forensic processing. On June 8, detectives learned that the partial human remains are that of Douglas Davis.

Davis would have been 33 years old at the time his remains were found. He was last seen in October 2006 after a brief pursuit with Morrison Police.

He was not reported missing until 2008. Davis' family has been notified about the confirmation of his identity.

At the time of his disappearance, Davis was a wanted fugitive. Though the cause of death has not been determined, foul play is not suspected.
