Greeley Police: There May Be More Victims In School Volunteer Sexual Assault Case

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Greeley have arrested a school volunteer suspected of sexual assaulting a 14-year-old. Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Lynne Freeman was arrested on Wednesday. She has been a parent volunteer at University Schools in Greeley.

The victim is a 14-year-old boy and is not a student in Freeman's classes.

The reported incident occurred on or about April 10 but was not reported to police until June 10 when the victim disclosed the alleged assault to his parents. His parents then contacted police.

"The victim in this case was at Ms.Freeman's home, watching a movie. She told him to go upstairs, took him upstairs, went into a bedroom, into a closet, locked the door, started kissing him, took off his clothing and then sexually assaulted him in the closet. After that was done she told him to go back downstairs, she remained upstairs in the bathroom for a short time and told him not to tell anyone," said Greeley Police Dept. spokeswoman Susan West.

The victim told police he had been visiting at the Freeman home when the assault occurred. The victim said Freeman took him upstairs to a bedroom and went into a closet and locked the door. That's when Freeman allegedly began kissing him, removed his pants and performed oral sex on him.

She then allegedly told him to go back downstairs and told him not to tell anyone.

Detectives contacted a second victim Thursday afternoon, a 16-year-old boy who reported two separate encounters with Freeman. The first of the encounters was in late May, in a vehicle at a park in west Greeley. The second was in mid-June in a basement bedroom of the Freeman home. During the second encounter one of Freeman's daughter walked into the room and discovered Freeman and the victim.

The school district declined to comment on Freeman's arrest.

Police are continuing to investigate the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Adam Turk: 970-351-5381 or Investigator Greg Tharp: 970-350-9533.
