Garbage Truck Collides With 2 Vehicles
LAFAYETTE, Colo. (CBS4)- Colorado State Troopers closed Arapahoe Road from 95th Street to Highway 287 for about six hours after a head-on collision between a garbage truck and two vehicles. One person was killed.
The collision happened at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Arapahoe Road at Hwy. 287. The garbage truck crashed into a Chevy sedan and another vehicle. One person in the sedan was killed.
There is no indication that anyone else was hurt.
The accident reconstruction team is trying to determine what caused the crash.
Hazardous materials crews were called out to investigate as part of the cleanup because troopers were concerned that a substance in the garbage truck may have been leaking.
The road closure remained in place until 1:15 p.m. while accident investigators complete their evaluation.
