Rescues Take Place In Colorado Springs During Flooding, Hail

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Many areas of Colorado Springs were hit hard with rising water and hail during the overnight storms.

CBS4 partner KKTV reported that the biggest cleanup effort Thursday will take place from Platte to Constitution along North Academy. That includes the Citadel mall area, where cars became submerged in water and hail Wednesday night.

Several people in cars in that area got stuck and had to be rescued, but police said no one was hurt.

The hail pileup grew to more than four feet high, and that combined with rushing floodwaters caused some erosion and closed some streets.

The mayor and other city leaders were set to share more details about the damage during a Thursday morning news conference.
