Firefighters Continue Battling Little Sand Fire

PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Fire crews continue to battle the Little Sand Fire burning near Pagosa Springs.

The wildfire was started by lightning on May 13. So far it's burned 3,754 acres.

There are six fire crews totaling 246 firefighters battling the blaze on Thursday.

Although no structures have been destroyed there are 40 structures threatened by the fire, including outbuildings.

Crews are removing brush and trees from around structures as a precautionary effort. They're also removing what are called ladder fuels from around structures in the area of Sportman's Campground.

There are also two helicopters fighting the fire from the air.

The fire has cost more than $1 million to fight so far.
