Body Found Near Trailhead In Summit County

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - The body of a man was found in Summit County on Saturday and investigators are calling the death suspicious.

Capt. Erik Bourgerie with the Summit County Sheriff's Department said that around 11:54 a.m. officers responded to a report of a body found at the Burro trailhead near Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge.

"The Summit County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the body of an adult male was located, and the circumstances surrounding the death appear to be suspicious," Bourgerie said in a statement.

Bourgerie said the identity of the victim is not known at this time. Police believe he was a squatter who was living in a tent in the woods. He is a white male in his early 40s. He was found about 200 feet from his tent.

Summit County Sheriff's Department is working with Breckenridge police and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
