Parker Teen Arrested After Allegedly Bringing Gun To School

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4)- A Parker teen has been arrested after deputies claim he brought a gun to the Chaparral High School campus.

Markkus DeHerrera is facing charges of possession of a weapon on school grounds and unlawful conduct on public property. DeHerrera, 19, is free on $3,000 bond.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies were called by the Parker Police Department School Resource Officer on May 7 for Legend High School about a vehicle at Chaparral that may have had guns in it.

Officers located the vehicle and found the guns inside. They then contacted those associated with the vehicle.

They also searched two student vehicles where they found a knife inside each vehicle.

The incidents were determined to be related. No injuries were reported and deputies determined that the incidents were not part of a plot or credible threat to either school.

DeHerrera was arrested on Monday.

A 16-year-old male is facing charges of harassment related to the incident.
