Mayor Hancock Seeks Additional Candidates For Independent Monitor

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Mayor Michael Hancock wants the Independent Monitor Screening Committee to reconvene and advance additional candidates for the position.

The initial pool had 110 applicant pools.

Hancock extended an offer to Julie Ruhlin, one of the three final candidates for the position. She declined the appointment, citing her desire to remain in her current position serving Los Angeles County.

"I will continue to work with the Screening Committee to move forward on filling this critical position," Hancock said in a statement. "We will act deliberately, diligently and as expeditiously as possible."

Per city ordinance, the Mayor may request that the Selection Committee reconvene in order to forward additional names.
